The Fabric of India, The Future of Fashion, Celebrated at Cadence
At Cadence Academy, design is about more than trends, it’s about roots, culture, and purpose. This National Handloom Day 2025, our Dharampeth campus proudly celebrated the incredible legacy of Indian weavers and the timeless beauty of handloom.
Held on August 7th, the event was a vibrant tribute to the craft that continues to shape India's fashion narrative. From handwoven silks and khadi to contemporary silhouettes made using traditional techniques, the celebration was as inspiring as it was stylish.
A Gathering of Dignitaries and Designers
We were honoured to welcome:
Shri Dayashankar Tiwari, Head of BJP Nagpur City (Chief Guest)
Mr. Dive, Officer on Special Duty to Shri Nitin Gadkari (Guest of Honour)
Mr. Paunika and Mr. Sandeep from the Weavers’ Service Centre, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India
Their presence reminded us how design and policymaking can work hand in hand to uplift the weaving community and preserve cultural heritage.
Students Take the Lead
Our fashion design students curated an unforgettable experience featuring:
A stunning runway show inspired by Indian handlooms
Interactive quizzes to test knowledge of Indian textile history
Speeches and presentations that highlighted the economic, ecological, and cultural value of choosing handloom
Each garment, question, and performance reflected the depth of learning and respect for tradition that Cadence instills in its learners.
Why It Matters
Handloom isn’t just fabric, it’s a story of artistry, sustainability, and identity. In an era of fast fashion, celebrating these crafts is both a creative and conscious choice. At Cadence, we’re proud to shape designers who don’t just follow trends, they lead with purpose.
This National Handloom Day reminded us that the future of fashion lies in honouring the past. And our students are ready to carry that legacy forward, with heart, vision, and style.
